Costa Rica is witnessing an impressive 42% surge in global tourism interest, showcasing its continued appeal as a top destination for eco-conscious travelers. According to a recent study by Bloom Consulting for essential COSTA RICA, over 12.4 million global searches were analyzed, revealing a strong rebound in tourism, with 11 million inquiries specifically related to travel. Costa Rica remains a favorite for those seeking bird watching, surfing, hiking, and visits to its renowned national parks. U.S. travelers account for nearly half of the search activity, followed by significant interest from Canada and Germany.

This growth in tourism is deeply intertwined with Costa Rica’s unwavering commitment to sustainability. The country has long been recognized as a leader in eco-tourism, aligning with its broader carbon-neutral strategy. Costa Rica’s 2035 Strategy underscores its dedication to renewable energy, sustainable exports, and carbon-neutral tourism practices. The nation’s emphasis on clean technologies and eco-friendly practices resonates globally, reinforcing its identity as a leader in the fight against climate change.

In addition to the tourism boom, Costa Rica’s export sector has seen growth, with an 8% rise in global searches. Costa Rican products, particularly coffee and cocoa, are in high demand due to their sustainable production methods. The 16% increase in coffee-related inquiries highlights global interest in high-quality, ethically sourced products, while a 20% rise in cocoa searches underscores the growing market for sustainably produced chocolate.

Costa Rica is also attracting investment, with a 17% increase in searches related to business opportunities. The country’s competitive labor costs, strategic port infrastructure, and clean energy projects make it an appealing destination for international businesses, particularly those focused on sustainable industries.

Costa Rica’s digital presence plays a key role in its success, with 83% of global searches linked to official Costa Rican content. The country’s focus on sustainability and its carbon-neutral strategy positions it as a global leader in tourism, exports, and investment, making it a key player in global ESG initiatives.
