Qatar has reaffirmed its commitment to the 2030 Agenda and the Programme of Action of the International Conference on Population and Development (ICPD), aligning national development goals with sustainability and health-driven ESG principles. Speaking at the 58th Session of the UN Commission on Population and Development, Sultan bin Ali Al Kuwari emphasized Qatar’s strategic focus on health and well-being—key pillars of both the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 3 and Qatar National Vision 2030.

Qatar’s healthcare initiatives are rooted in the “Health in All Policies” approach, which promotes multi-sectoral collaboration for sustainable development. These efforts support ESG-related objectives through equitable access to healthcare, robust public-private partnerships, and quality health service delivery across all population segments. The newly launched National Health Strategy (2024–2030), part of Qatar’s Third National Development Strategy, reinforces this commitment. Developed collaboratively with experts and stakeholders, the strategy aims to build a resilient, efficient, and sustainable healthcare system by focusing on population health, service excellence, and innovation.

As a notable achievement, Qatar is the first country where all municipalities have been designated “Healthy Cities” by the World Health Organization. Five hospitals in Qatar also ranked among the top 250 global academic medical centers. Furthermore, Qatar assumed the presidency of the WHO Executive Board in 2023, showcasing leadership in global health governance.

While reaffirming its domestic ESG and carbon neutral strategy, Qatar also called for global accountability regarding violations of humanitarian law in Gaza, urging the international community to uphold its responsibilities.

Qatar’s healthcare transformation and policy integration represent a model for aligning national health goals with broader ESG and sustainability frameworks—further advancing the global carbon neutral strategy through innovation-driven, people-centered development.
