The Dubai Supreme Council of Energy (DSCE), chaired by HH Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, held its 85th meeting virtually, emphasizing its commitment to advancing ESG initiatives and sustainable energy solutions. Key attendees included HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Vice Chairman, and HE Ahmed Buti Al Muhairbi, Secretary General, alongside leaders from Dubai Municipality, Emirates Global Aluminium, ENOC, and Dubai Petroleum.

The Council reviewed strategic topics, including the regulation of petroleum product trading and advancements in district cooling services. The Executive Council Resolution on Regulating Petroleum Products Trading was highlighted for enhancing safety and compliance standards, supporting Dubai’s transition toward a carbon-neutral strategy

District cooling services emerged as a critical focus, managed by the Regulatory and Supervisory Bureau for Electricity and Water. These systems deliver significant energy savings and reduce carbon emissions, aligning with Dubai’s green energy agenda. Discussions also centered on improving provider-consumer relationships in the cooling sector, which plays a vital role in sustainable urban development.

HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer reaffirmed Dubai’s goal to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050, guided by HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum’s vision. Governance frameworks under Executive Council Resolution No. 16 of 2019 were highlighted as instrumental in regulating the petroleum derivatives sector and promoting sustainability.

HE Ahmed Buti Al Muhairbi outlined strategic plans for petroleum product management, developed in collaboration with the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure and national oil companies. These efforts enhance safety, quality, and market efficiency, further positioning Dubai as a global leader in clean energy and sustainable growth.

The DSCE’s ongoing initiatives underscore Dubai’s leadership in climate action and resource sustainability, setting a benchmark for innovative ESG practices and carbon-neutral strategies worldwide.
