The Global Cement and Concrete Association (GCCA) has launched a new membership initiative, the Net Zero Value Chain Partners (NZVCP), to advance the cement and concrete industry’s transition towards net zero emissions. The initiative broadens the GCCA’s membership to include organisations from across the building and construction value chain, such as equipment suppliers, admixture companies, and industrial infrastructure providers for carbon capture, utilisation and storage (CCUS) [1][2].

Cement and concrete are the world’s most-used materials after water and decarbonising them requires collaboration beyond manufacturers alone. The GCCA emphasised that achieving net zero is only possible with engagement from the broader building ecosystem and policymakers [1]. Through the NZVCP programme, member organisations will work directly alongside the GCCA’s 50 existing cement and concrete producers, participating in joint programmes, working groups, and key events to accelerate decarbonisation innovation [2].

Thomas Guillot, GCCA Chief Executive, noted that concrete is an “essential material” underpinning global infrastructure and daily life. He stressed the importance of deeper collaboration with technology and service providers to deliver on the shared net zero mission [1][2]. GCCA President Dominik von Achten added that partnerships across the value chain are vital to achieving sustainability goals that the industry cannot meet alone [2].

The first NZVCP members include CDE, KHD, Master Builders Solutions, Saint-Gobain, Schneider Electric and Sinoma International. Their participation reflects growing momentum for industry-wide cooperation. These companies bring expertise in technologies ranging from digital energy management to sustainable admixtures and circular materials, all key enablers of low-carbon construction [1][2].

By fostering these collaborations, the GCCA’s NZVCP initiative represents a significant step in transforming one of the world’s most carbon-intensive industries into a model of sustainable innovation.
