Mercedes-Benz Research and Development India (MBRDI) has expanded its Sustainability Garage initiative by opening two new Centres of Excellence in Hyderabad and New Delhi. This move strengthens the company’s commitment to ESG principles and its carbon neutral strategy by fostering innovation in sustainable mobility and environmental solutions. 

The Climate Tech Incubator in Hyderabad will support 25 social enterprises with seed funding, mentorship, and technical expertise, helping drive innovation in climate technology. In collaboration with T-Hub, this initiative will also involve over 500 students in a bootcamp designed to create climate-focused solutions, further aligning with Mercedes-Benz’s global sustainability goals. 

In New Delhi, the new Centre of Excellence, launched in partnership with The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI), focuses on charging infrastructure. The center aims to train and certify 60 young professionals in charging station maintenance, boosting India’s capabilities in sustainable transportation. 

Mercedes-Benz’s expansion of its Sustainability Garage reflects its broader carbon neutral strategy, which integrates ESG values into its operations. According to Renata Jungo Brüngger, a member of the Board of Management for Mercedes-Benz Group AG, this initiative goes beyond core business activities, emphasizing the company’s role in driving positive change for society and the environment. 

By investing in local talent and providing resources to climate tech innovators, MBRDI is positioning itself as a leader in sustainable mobility, supporting global efforts toward carbon neutrality.
