sales@senecaesg.comPolish and American leaders, including President Andrzej Dudaand Prime Minister Donald Tusk, discussed enhancing cooperation in nuclear energy during a meeting with U.S. President Joe Biden, as reported by Reuters on March 12. Poland aims to invest in nuclear energy to reduce carbon emissions and transition away from coal. The previous government had selected Westinghouse Electric Co as the technology supplier, which later partnered with Bechtel, a major U.S. engineering firm. Tusk’s administration acknowledges the necessity of nuclear power for Poland but plans to review the project initiated by its predecessors.
President Duda mentioned visiting a modern American nuclear power plant in Georgia and emphasized plans for a similar facility in Poland, highlighting discussions on cooperation in nuclear energy and climate protection. While Poland initially aimed to complete its first nuclear power plant by 2033 on the Baltic coast, delays under the previous government prompt a reevaluation of the project’s timeline.
