The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) has announced a significant milestone for its ESG-driven tourism program, “Village to the World #SustainableAgenda”, reporting a 20% increase in community income within just two months of launch.

Backed by the Ministry of Tourism and Sports, the Stock Exchange of Thailand, the Department of Cultural Promotion, and major private-sector partners, the initiative is already showing measurable results. Unlike conventional CSR projects, the program is built on integrated ESG tourism models designed to deliver long-term value.

Operating under the theme “ESG Partnership for Impact – Partners for Sustainable Growth”, the initiative provides expert-led training in management, marketing, communications, and hospitality. It also fosters collaboration between listed companies and local communities, ensuring sustainable skills transfer and economic benefits.

The program covers five provinces of Thailand, each focusing on a unique application of ESG principles, from creative waste management and safe agriculture to community service systems, digitalization, and biodiversity conservation. More than 30,000 tourist visits have already been recorded across these pilot communities, driving a notable rise in local revenue.

TAT Governor Thapanee Kiatphaibool highlighted the initiative’s broader significance, calling it an effective ESG platform that bridges capital markets, businesses, and Thai cultural heritage.

“The project not only creates income and opportunities for communities but also sets new inspiration and standards for businesses committed to advancing sustainability in tangible ways,” she said.

Encouraged by the early outcomes, TAT now plans to expand partnerships between businesses and communities, while developing a structured framework to accelerate ESG tourism investments. The long-term vision is to strengthen collaboration networks, ensure balanced growth for local communities, and position Thailand as a global leader in ESG tourism.
