Chinese photovoltaic company LONGi Green Energy Technology Co has inaugurated its Serendah Module Plant in Malaysia, marking a significant milestone in its global endeavors, as reported by Technode on October 18 . The plant, established with an investment of MYR1.8bn (USD380m), represents LONGi’s first manufacturing presence in West Malaysia and is a pivotal part of their comprehensive photovoltaic industry chain in the country. The facility, located in Serendah, Selangor state, spans 140 acres and incorporates state-of-the-art technology, with plans for a total capacity of 8.8GW across two phases. Currently employing approximately 900 people, the plant is set to create more than 2,000 jobs in the future, contributing significantly to the local economy and supporting Malaysia’s sustainable development goals.
LONGi’s investment in Malaysia underscores its commitment to technological innovation and green energy solutions. The company’s expansion aligns with global efforts to achieve sustainable development, embracing green hydrogen products and solutions to support the worldwide shift towards zero-carbon development. By establishing its Asia-Pacific headquarters in Kuala Lumpur, LONGi aims to further enhance its brand resonance in the region while leveraging Malaysia’s robust logistics and skilled workforce, emphasizing the country’s role as a hub for green revitalization and innovation in the Asia-Pacific market.
