The Department of Communities has launched its inaugural Climate Action and Sustainability Strategy 2024-2027, marking a significant step toward advancing Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) initiatives. This comprehensive plan outlines the department’s commitment to fostering sustainable communities and supporting the State Government’s climate adaptation and carbon reduction goals.

Key initiatives already underway include the development of energy-efficient home designs and programs aimed at improving water and energy efficiency in existing housing stock. These efforts align with the broader mission to reduce carbon emissions and implement a robust carbon-neutral strategy for the state. 

The strategy also integrates policies addressing Closing the Gap, Safety and Wellbeing, and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, ensuring a well-rounded approach to sustainability.
