Menzies Aviation, a leading service partner to airports and airlines worldwide and an Agility Global company, has announced that the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) has approved its science-based targets to achieve net-zero greenhouse gas emissions across its value chain by 2045. This includes a 50% reduction in Scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions by 2030 from its 2022 baseline, and a reduction in Scope 3 GHG emissions by 30% to 42% within the same period. 

This approval underscores Menzies’ commitment to sustainability and environmental stewardship, setting a benchmark for the aviation services industry. By setting and pursuing ambitious, science-based targets, Menzies Aviation demonstrates a proactive approach to combating climate change. 

To achieve these targets, Menzies’ All In plan focuses on four key pillars: Environment, People, Safety, and Ethics. The plan aims to drive positive change and progress the company’s material ESG priorities. Since launching the All In plan in 2021, Menzies has made significant investments in transitioning to electric and lower-emission Ground Support Equipment (GSE), with 17% of all GSE now electric across the business, and 48% in Europe, ahead of its goal of 25% by 2025. 

In addition to GSE upgrades, Menzies has invested in solar panels, intelligent building technologies, and reusable cargo packaging solutions to further reduce emissions. The company also partners with Climate Impact Partner’s Million Mangroves project, demonstrating its commitment to removing carbon from the atmosphere and restoring ecosystems.

The SBTi is a corporate climate action organization that promotes best practices in science-based target setting and independently assesses companies’ targets to combat the climate crisis.
