Microsoft and Japanese information technology firm Fujitsu have announced a five-year strategic partnership to jointly develop and deploy sustainability transformation-focused cloud solutions across manufacturing, retail, healthcare, and the public sector, as reported by ESG Today on May 30. Building upon their existing collaboration, the companies will make joint investments to promote Fujitsu’s Uvance business, which delivers a transformation portfolio for a sustainable future. Leveraging Fujitsu’s Uvance business and Microsoft Cloud, the two firms will help organizations enhance sustainability and better address societal challenges while driving business growth.

Microsoft and Fujitsu target collaborations in areas of Sustainable Manufacturing, Consumer Experience, Health Living, and Trusted Society. Sustainable Manufacturing will enable digitized manufacturing sites to utilize Microsoft Cloud for Sustainability to develop solutions that help companies visualize risks associated with rapid environmental change effectively. Additionally, Trusted Society delivers solutions that ensure sustainability and resilience to global supply chain crises. This includes enhancing product traceability, providing detailed demand forecasting, and supporting sustainability goals such as monitoring CO2 emissions. Fujitsu CEO, Takahito Tokita, said Microsoft’s trusted cloud platform and advanced AI capabilities can accelerate the development and deployment of innovative products. Recently, KPMG  also introduced an ESG and climate data management and analytics solution built on Microsoft Cloud for Sustainability and Microsoft Azure. The solution helps clients extract data from multiple sources and integrate it into a centralized hub, providing a comprehensive insight into ESG factors.
