Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. recently published its Integrated Report 2024, outlining the company’s business progression and its steadfast commitment to sustainability through its Ambition 2030 vision. This inaugural report presents Nissan’s vision, strategies, business plans, and financial information, emphasizing its mid- to long-term impact on society.
Nissan’s sustainability strategy includes two major programs: the Nissan Green Program 2030 (NGP2030) and the Nissan Social Program 2030 (NSP2030). These initiatives support the company’s overarching business strategy, detailed further in the Sustainability data book 2024.
Launched in 2002, NGP aims to achieve a “symbiosis of people, vehicles, and nature.” NGP2030 addresses climate change, resource dependency, and air quality. Key sustainability targets include reducing per-vehicle lifecycle CO2 emissions by 30%, reducing per-vehicle manufacturing CO2 emissions by 52%, reducing per-vehicle driving CO2 emissions for new models by 50% in major markets, and increasing sustainable material ratio to 40% in Japan, the U.S., Europe, and China.
NSP2030 enhances Nissan’s social initiatives, serving as the foundation of The Arc and contributing to Ambition 2030. With a people-centric approach, Nissan aims to create a positive societal impact through safety, quality, responsible sourcing, intellectual property, communities, and the power of employees. This includes promoting DEI, employee human rights, learning and development, and health and safety. The program supports employee resource groups focusing on various aspects such as LGBTQ+, working parents, and multiculturalism.
Nissan’s Chief Sustainability Officer, Joji Tagawa, emphasizes the importance of collaboration with partners and stakeholders to ensure the company’s progress towards a sustainable future. Nissan is dedicated to advancing sustainability as the cornerstone of its operations, aiming for a cleaner, safer, and more inclusive world.
Through these comprehensive sustainability strategies, Nissan demonstrates its commitment to ESG principles, aiming to drive innovation and enrich lives, contributing to a sustainable society.
