Prague, known for its stunning architecture and rich cultural tapestry, is gearing up to solidify its position as a top destination for discerning travelers. With tourism numbers steadily climbing—7.4 million visitors explored the city last year alone—the Czech capital is embracing a new vision outlined in the “Respect Prague” strategy for 2024 to 2027.

This ambitious strategy, pending final approval, underscores Prague’s commitment to sustainability and responsible tourism practices. At its core, “Respect Prague” aims to harmonize the city’s thriving tourism sector with the preservation of its historic charm and natural environment. Deputy Mayor Jiří Pospíšil highlights the strategy’s potential to bolster the local economy and enhance cultural offerings, crucial for maintaining Prague’s allure amidst its growing popularity.

Central to the strategy is Prague City Tourism’s initiative to launch the “My Prague” app, slated to manage tourist flow and promote respectful behavior among visitors. This technological innovation aligns with broader efforts to expand tourist services beyond the city center, easing congestion and distributing economic benefits more equitably across Prague’s neighborhoods.

Moreover, plans include developing specialized services such as a Congress tourist card and enhancing the Prague Visitor Pass, aimed at enriching visitor experiences while minimizing environmental impact. These initiatives are complemented by strategic marketing campaigns that spotlight Prague’s lesser-known attractions, fostering a more inclusive and sustainable tourism landscape.

As Prague charts its course towards becoming a premier destination for cultural exploration, its commitment to ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) principles and sustainability reporting emerges as a cornerstone of its future growth. By prioritizing responsible tourism, Prague not only safeguards its heritage but also ensures a vibrant future where residents and visitors alike can thrive in harmony.
